Cellar Door

OK, so I understand how people have recurring dreams about being back in school, or being naked in public, or having sex while being naked in school. There are strong emotions associated with each, everday tensions and feelings bubbling up in the subconscious. But what the hell does being an member of a live studio audience for a sitcom mean? Two nights in a row but in very different dreams (one relaxed, one disturbing) but both containing me being a member of a live studio audience for a sitcom--including the boring parts such as waiting for the taping to start. What the hell is bubbling up in my subconscious?

Hey Marty - I love reading your Blog and think you are an excellent, although at times slightly disturbed, writer.

In terms of your dreams about the sit com audience. The psycho-babble definition is that you feel that you are just watching life go by. Even though you know that it can be boring, staged, and the laugh track is canned... you are still a by stander not part of the action. Just an anonymous face in the crowd.

... or you just watch too much tv.

Hey Anonymous. Thanks for the compliment and the psycho-babble definition of the dream. Definitely fits with my fear of life passing by. And I do watch too much TV. As for being disturbed, well, my first year law school roommate stopped taking his meds right before third year finals, had a psychotic break and had to be escorted off campus. Anytime I think I get too wiggy, I think of poor ol' roomie and his shouts of "They're persecuting Catholics" and his beheaded Bert & Ernie on a stick, and I think to myself, OK, I might be disturbed but I'm not disturbed.
